They are also required to swim 20 yards, retrieve a brick from the deep end, and return, holding the brick on their chest with both hands. This course includes water rescue training, along with first aid, CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) training. People who complete the course receive CPR and lifeguard/first aid certifications, and will be eligible to apply for employment as a lifeguard. Earth Day Triathlon will take place on Saturday, May 14, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be men’s and women’s age-group divisions and a team division. All divisions begin at the swimming pool and end at Woody Way Field. The swim is 22 laps (1 km). The run is 3.1 miles (5 km), and goes from the pool to East Elementary and back. The bike is 12.4 miles (20 km) from the pool to Pillar Creek and back to the finish at Woody Way Field.

Divisions are as follows:

1. Open-mixed team
