Kodiak softball opened with a 1-2 record in the Sitka Tournament Thursday in Sitka.
The Bears topped Palmer 7-4 and lost to Colony and Sitka 3-2.
Today, Kodiak plays Juneau (11:20 a.m.) and Sitka (6 p.m.)
On Saturday, the Bears play Thunder Mountain (10 a.m.), Sitka (12:40 p.m.) and Juneau (3:20 p.m.).
COLONY 3, KODIAK 2
Kodiak’s Hailee Henslee homered in the first, but it wasn’t enough as Colony scored two in the third to take the 65-minute time-limit game.
Ashlyn Bolen had Kodiak’s only other hit, a single in the third inning that drove in Addalina Haagensen, who walked.
Shanoah Spear fanned seven, gave up three hits and walked two in four innings.
KODIAK 7, PALMER 4
The Bears scored five in the third to defeat their Northern Lights Conference rival.
Haagensen, Henslee, Spear and Aliesha Miranda all singled for Kodiak.
SITKA 3, KODIAK 2
Despite outhitting Sitka 7-4, Kodiak dropped its second one-run game of the day.
Henslee had a double, a single and drove in a run. Bolen and Haggensen each had two singles.
Kodiak tied the game at 2 in the top of the third. Sitka took the lead in the bottom of the inning, then retired Kodiak in order as time expired in the fourth.
Spear fanned five and walked two in three innings.
