Joseph Dube and Sienna Mickelson paced Kodiak Middle School at the Mat-Su Valley Championship Cross Country Race on Sept. 22 at Redington High School. 

Dube finished sixth in the boys’ 3-kilometer race with a time of 10 minutes, 59.55 seconds. There were 229 racers. 

Landen Alford scored a 17th-place finish in 11:50.83 as the Kodiak placed fourth out of 13 schools with 105 points. Palmer won with 41, followed by Colony (49) and Teeland (60). 

Mickelson was the top Kodiak girl, placing 23rd in 13:22. There were 176 racers.  

According to Kodiak coach Marcus Dunbar, this was the first time Mickelson led the team. 

Haiden Holforty was close behind, finishing 24th in 13:25.49. 

The girls placed sixth out of nine teams with 155 points.
