Patrick Henry Cannon, Jr.
Patrick Henry Cannon, Jr., age 87, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on October 19, 2021, of natural causes.
Pat was born on July 1, 1934, in Macon, Georgia. He attended Lanier High School in Macon and joined the Navy soon after completing high school, which eventually lead to his career in the US Coast Guard. Pat served in the Coast Guard as a decorated C130 search and rescue pilot. In 1973, toward the end of his career in the Coast Guard, one of his last duty stations brought him and his family to Kodiak, Alaska, where he served until 1977. In 1978, Pat opened Island TV & Radio Shack in Kodiak and Cannon’s Fast Foto soon followed.
Pat was actively involved in the communities he lived in. In Kodiak, he was elected to the Borough Assembly in 1979. He served as president of the Lions Club and has been a member of the Elks Club for four decades.
Pat is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley Cannon, his daughter Debra Rippey, sons Park Cannon, Michael Cannon and John Cannon. He is also survived by his step children Cynthia McQueen and Michael McQueen, as well as seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
