Donna Carlson

Donna Marie Carlson, 47, of Fairbanks, died March 24, 2012, in Neptune Beach, Fla.

She was born April 28, 1964, in Ware, Mass., the daughter of Alfred Thomas and Patricia May Morris. Donna was the fourth of their six children.

Donna moved to Kodiak in 1985 and lived there until moving to Fairbanks in 2005. She worked at the Horizon Dental Group in Kodiak and spent much of her free time volunteering with the Kodiak Girl Scouts. In Fairbanks, she managed the dental office of Dr. Diana Helmbrecht until last summer.

She loved scrapbooking, sewing, reading, cooking and all holidays, especially Christmas.

Donna is survived by her husband Patrick Carlson; her children David, Laura, Allison, and Jacob; her stepchildren Alicia and Eric; her grandchildren Arialle and Connor; her mother Patricia Morris; siblings Michael Morris, Linda Finn, Rebecca Recker and Kasey Macintosh; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Thomas Morris, and her sister, Deborah Jean Hernandez.

Donna is remembered for her kindness, for her contagious smile, and for her devoted service to the girls and young women in her community. She requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kodiak Girl Scouts be made in her memory. Checks can be made payable to Kodiak Girl Scouts and sent to Linda Freed, 3295 Woody Way, Kodiak, AK 99615. All funds will directly benefit Girl Scouts in the Kodiak community.

A memorial service was held in South Carolina immediately after Donna’s passing. Private services will also be held in Kodiak and Fairbanks. For information about services please contact Donna’s daughter at
