Matthieu Christian Sutton

June 14, 1995 — October 12, 2021

Our Matthieu Christian Sutton is now an angel with his grandparents. On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, Matthieu suddenly passed away.

Born on June 14, 1995, Matthieu was our firstborn child. He arrived with a head of thick, dark hair and big blue eyes. Matthieu was full of life and very curious about the world.

As a young boy, his favorite place to be was at the river with his father or on the F/V Miss Linda pushing fish or on the court playing ball. We were so proud when he won the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest in fourth Grade, and we traveled to Portland representing Alaska.

Our Matthieu was athletic playing Little Dribblers, Little League, and Kodiak Park and Rec Soccer as a young child.

In 2008, he traveled to Kenai with the Kodiak All-Star Team, and I watched him and his Kodiak teammates. Coach Joe Floyd called his grandma Linda to ask who the “Sutton” kid was on the radio. He was a natural athlete.

He continued to play sports in high school, lettering in basketball, baseball and football. We enjoyed cheering for him, and we were so  PROUD of him.

Matthieu followed in his Papa Mitch Sutton’s and his dad Aaron Sutton’s footsteps as a fisherman, fishing for many boats; however, his love for the F/V Miss Linda was evident.

On December 17, 2017, Matthieu became an uncle to Ryker Christian Sutton and was beyond excited to create new memories with his nephew.

However, the best day of his life was when he welcomed Madelyn Rose on June 29, 2020.

Matthieu was a fantastic father, and the smile he shared when talking about Madelyn was infectious.

Matthieu Christian Sutton was preceded in death by his grandfather Mitchel Sutton in 1999, his grandfather Edward Brown in 2010, and his grandmother Madelyn Reft Brown in 2012.

Matthieu is survived by his parents, Aaron and Sabrina Sutton, sister Emma Sutton, nephew Ryker Christian Sutton, Grandmother Linda Sutton, Girlfriend Christina Alsos, daughter Madelyn Rose Sutton, Aunt Debbie Brown and Uncle Brandon Hales, Aunt Michelle Sutton, cousins Sean Hales, Madison Hales, Keinan Sutton, and Bobby Sutton, and his four-legged friend Ragnar.

Precious Matthieu, you are now safe in the arms of God where there is no pain. Until we are together again, we will hold Madelyn close in the memories and stories that we hold close to our hearts. Rest in Peace, my dear Matthieu.
