After a successful professional running debut in Europe, Kodiak's Trevor Dunbar returned to the states and cashed in with a pair of top finishes.

On Friday, Dunbar finished third in the GNC Live Well Liberty Mile in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a time of 4 minutes, 4 seconds.

Dunbar won $1,500 for his third-place showing. The 2009 Kodiak High School graduate led for most of the road race and was passed at the end by winner Jordan McNamara and 2012 Olympic silver medalist Leo Manzano. Both runners finished in 4:03, with McNamara winning $4,000 and Manzano $2,500.

On July 26, Dunbar placed fifth in the 1,500 meters at the Eugene High Performance Meet with a time of 3:40.07.

Dunbar, a 2014 University of Oregon grad, won $500 for his finish and was only 1.4 seconds behind winner McNamara, a 1,500-meter finalist at the 2012 US Olympic Trials.

Dunbar recently signed with Nike and set personal-best times in the mile and the 3,000 in Europe.
