Thursday was the final borough assembly meeting for borough manager Rick Gifford, who will take a similar job with the Aleutians East Borough. Gifford came to Kodiak in 2005 from Seward and is the longest-serving borough manager in the history of the Kodiak Island Borough.

“Every place you’ve gone in Alaska, you’ve made things a little better,” said borough Mayor Jerome Selby. “I do want to thank you.”

The borough assembly has received applications from several people interested in the manager job and is reviewing their credentials.
