On Sunday we lost our family anchor, Clarence Alvin “Al” Lucas. Al Lucas (Pop) was a giant of a man, a real man’s man. He loved God, and his devotion to his family, country and serving others never wavered, remaining steadfast.

Loved by many and respected by all, he was our John Wayne and a true hero. To our Coast Guardsman, Semper Paratus – fair winds and following seas, shipmate.

He was the captain of the disaster action team in Effingham County, was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Moose Lodge, and was a Baptist.
