Racing against a loaded field, Trevor Dunbar set a personal best and broke a University of Portland record in the indoor 3,000 meters at the 2011 Husky Classic Saturday in Seattle, Wash.

Dunbar, a redshirt freshman, clocked an 8 minute, 0.10 second 3K time to finish 22nd.

The top 14 finishers all were under the NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7:54.50.

This was the first time Dunbar has placed higher than Arkansas’ Solomon Haile in any race. Haile placed 30th. Dunbar finished second to Haile in the 2010 Footlocker National Cross Country Championships.

South Dakota School of Mines’ Lucas Fried won the 1-mile run with a time of 4:22.45 at the Dordt Indoor Invitational in Iowa on Saturday.

On Saturday, Horn tallied 12 points and six rebounds in a 71-47 victory over Western Oregon University.

On Thursday, UAA (21-5, 12-3 GNAC), travels to seventh-ranked Western Washington.
