Kodiak’s Alysa Horn netted a team-high 12 points and six rebounds in the University of Alaska women’s basketball 65-52 victory over Simon Fraser University on Thursday in Anchorage.

Horn hit four of her 11 shots from the field. She also tallied three assists, three steals and one block.

Against Western Washington University on Saturday, Horn scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds in a 81-61 loss to the No. 10-ranked Vikings.

In 20 games this season, Horn is averaging 10.6 points per game and a team-high seven rebounds per game.

The Seawolves, No. 15 in the nation, host Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Montana State Billings on Saturday.


Southern Oregon University’s Jimmy Eggemeyer pinned Pacific’s Devin Silva 2 minutes, 28 seconds into their 149-pound bout during a team dual competition Saturday in Oregon. Southern Oregon won 46-6 to clinch its 41st straight winning season.


South Dakota School of Mines’ Lucas Fried won the 3,000-meter indoor run with a time 9:02.75 at the Wildcat Open in Nebraska.

University of Portland’s Trevor Dunbar helped the distance medley team place sixth with a time of 10:25.58 at the 2011 UW Indoor Preview at the University of Washington on Jan. 15.
