Western Washington University’s Karsten Schick won the high jump and placed fifth in the 110 hurdles at the Ralph Vernacchia Team Classic Friday in Bellingham, Wash.
Schick, a freshman, cleared 6 feet, 1.25 inches to win the high jump and clocked a 16.30 in the hurdles.
He also ran the last leg of the third-place 1,600 relay team (3:30.8).
Western Washington won the 11 school meet with 300 points.
South Dakota School of Mines’ Lucas Fried placed second in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 1,500 at the Bauer Invitational on Thursday in Rapid City, S.D.
Fried covered the 800 in 1:59.95 seconds, just 00.46 seconds behind the winner, Ismael Arzola of Dickinson State.
Fried toured the 1,500 in 4:11.42.
Anderson University’s Chaven Davidson ran a leg of the 13th-place 1,600 relay squad at the Little State Championships on Friday in Marion, Ind.
The team recorded a time of 3:31.26.
Messiah College’s Abby Reed placed 33rd in the 1,600 with a time of 5:25.05 at the Messiah Invitational on Friday.
