Kodiak’s Kordell Pillans makes his debut for the University of Montana football team Saturday.
The Grizzlies open the 2019 season at South Dakota. Kick off is at 9 a.m. Alaska Standard Time.
Pillans, a 2016 graduate of Kodiak High School, transferred to Montana after two seasons at Mesa Community College in Arizona.
The 6-foot-6, 333-pound redshirt junior is a right guard for Montana. The depth chart lists the right guard starting spot as an “or” between Pillans and redshirt freshman Tyler Ganoung.
Pilllans was a two-star prospect at Mesa. He did not allow a sack as a sophomore, which earned him second-team all-region honors.
Montana is in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision and plays in the Big Sky Conference.
Saturday’s game will be streamed on ESPN+
