Snowshoers Jackie Malutin and Julia Wiley and Kodiak’s floor hockey team earned gold medals at the 2013 Special Olympics Alaska Winter games that concluded Sunday.

Malutin won two golds in the 200-meter and 400-meter snowshoeing races in her division and added a fourth in the 100, while Wiley took first in the 25 and 100 meter races and was fourth in the 50.

The floor hockey team — Derrick Blondin, David Bradbury (partner), Amy Canavan, Alexander Debbout (partner), Aharon Dolph, Noel Fisher (partner), Christopher Kavanaugh, Matt Kimmel (partner), Shantele Mantalaba, Anthony Rohr, Ben Stahlhut, Megan Stalhut (partner), Chloe Wood (partner) and Lydia Wood (partner) — won gold in the B division.

Snowshoers Christopher Bullert picked up two silvers (200 and 400) and a fourth (100) and Arne Tveit a second (100), a third (25) and a seventh (50).

Next up for Kodiak’s Special Olympics is powerlifting and basketball.
