KODIAK — Kodiak’s Ryan Walker and Makayla Heckerman both were eliminated in the first heat of the All-American Soap Box Derby Saturday in Akron, Ohio.

Walker, racing in the stock division, placed second in his heat. He lost to Cassidy Book of Portsmouth, Ohio. He finished ahead of Amanda Kandasamy of Mountain View, Calif.

Heckerman finished third in her super stock heat. Kelsey Moores of Hopkinsville, Ky., placed first and Brian Plunkett of Bucks County, Pa., was second.
