Alysa Horn’s junior season for the University of Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team ended last Tuesday.
The Seawolves fell 71-51 to Ashland University of Ohio in the NCAA Division II Elite 8 in San Antonio, Texas.
Horn had four points and one rebound in her final game of the year. Ashland went on to lose to Shaw University (North Carolina) 88-82 in the national championship game.
The 2008 Kodiak High School graduate came off the bench and averaged nine points and five rebounds in 35 games. Horn connected on 36 of her 102 3-point attempts, which was the second-best percentage on the team.
Track and Field
Chico State University’s Miles Dunbar placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run (3 minutes, 56.76 seconds) at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday in Chico, Calif.
Dunbar also was 12th in the 800 (2:02.32).
In St. Louis, Mo., Anderson (Ind.) University’s Chaven Davidson placed 18th in the 800 (2:03.14) at the Washington Invitational on Saturday.
Abby Reed of Messiah College (Pa.), placed 11th in the 1,500 (5:10.00) at the Battleground Relays Saturday in Virginia.
Erin Blott of the University of Findlay (Ohio), recorded a pair of first-place finishes in western equestrian and western patterns classes in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association show Feb. 25-26 in Ohio.
Blott’s finish qualified her for regionals, which was held on March 17 at Findlay. Blott did not advance past regionals.
