After starting the week with games against Palmer, Kodiak will finish the week against another Mat-Su Valley team.
The Bears finish the regular season today and Saturday at home against Wasilla in a pair of Northern Lights Conference games.
Today’s game begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday’s tips at 5 p.m..
“I think we are going to give Wasilla everything they can handle on Friday night,” Kodiak coach David Anderson said.
Kodiak has been at its best in the first game of a back-to-back NLC series, beating Kenai, Soldotna and Palmer. The Bears are 0-4 in the second game, which includes a 45-38 loss to the Moose on Tuesday.
“We just ran out of gas,” Anderson said.
Kodiak (3-5 NLC, 5-15 overall) still has a chance to grab the third seed for next week’s NLC Championships in Kenai, while Wasilla (7-1) has a shot at the top seed.
Soldotna (4-5) plays Kenai (1-8) and Colony (8-1) plays Palmer (3-6) on Saturday.
The team is honoring Red West, a former assistant coach who died a few weeks ago, before today’s game. The four seniors — Jemuel Mangalus, Levi Fried, Chris Caguing and Max Mutch will be honored before Saturday’s game.
