Only three high school football team remain undefeated after five weeks of play, and two sit atop the latest Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network poll.
Soldotna increased its state-best winning streak to 54 games with a 28-10 victory over Palmer to stay ranked No. 1 in the Division II/III poll.
The Stars moved to 5-0 on the season and will host Kodiak this Saturday. Soldotna is 18-0 all-time against Kodiak, which includes three wins in the small-school state championship game from 2006 to 2008.
Eielson (4-1) deflated Houston 28-7 to move up a spot to No. 2.
Homer (4-1) also moved up a spot to No. 3 following its 45-0 blanking of Seward.
North Pole (4-1) dropped two spots to No. 4 after dropping its first game of the season, 47-22 to Division I Lathrop.
Thunder Mountian (3-1) enters the rankings at No. 5 with its 42-9 thumping of Southeast Conference foe Ketchikan.
Colony pushed its record to 5-0 with an 18-0 win over Mat-Su Valley rival Wasilla. The Knights remained the top team in the Division I rankings.
Chugiak (5-0) traveled to Utah in Week 5 to defeat Green Canyon 40-27. The Mustangs stayed at No. 2 in the poll.
Bartlett was voted third following a 53-7 dismantling of South Anchorage.
East Anchorage is ranked fourth after blanking No. 5 Service 21-0. The Cougars dropped out of this week’s rankings.
This week East plays Bartlett.
West Anchorage rounds out the rankings following its 42-7 victory over Dimond.
