Stefan Macahilas gave his best shot at setting a new Tropic Lanes record, but came up just short on Tuesday night.

The Kodiak resident rolled an 816 series during co-ed league play. Philip Obas owns the house record for the best three-game set with 852 pins.

Macahilas produced a 279 in the first game, a 300 in the second and a 237 in the third.

The Kodiak High School graduate has rolled three perfect games this season, which ties him with Rod Kiefer for the most bowled in one season at Tropic Lanes. Macahilas, a youth bowling coach, has six in his career, while Kiefer owns the house record with 18.

Macahilas and seven other Kodiak bowlers are competing this weekend in the 700-series tournament in Anchorage.
