Kodiak Post 17 begins a seven-game in five-day road trip with a league doubleheader against Fairbanks 11 today in Anchorage.

The first contest begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by the second game at 3:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Kodiak plays South Anchorage in a nonleague game at 6:30 p.m.

That is followed with a league doubleheader against Fairbanks 30 that begins at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

Kodiak finishes the 28-game regular season with a doubleheader against West Anchorage and South Anchorage on Sunday.

The game against West is nonleague, while the game against South is league.

Kodiak (7-5) is in fifth-place in the National Division with 33 points.

Chugiak (53 points), Eagle River (43), Bartlett (38) and Kenai (33) are ahead of Kodiak. The Bears have the most league games remaining on their schedule.

The top three teams in each of the National and American divisions and two wild card teams qualify for the state tournament that begins on July 25 in Anchorage.

The two teams that have the most points that do not finish in the top three in their divisions earn the wild card berths.

The teams that do not qualify for the state tournament will compete in the Horizon Lines Tournament.

Dimond is the top team in the American Division with 48 points, followed by Service (45) and Wasilla (43).

Juneau, South and Ketchikan all have 38 points.
