Kodiak volleyball dropped a pair of Northern Lights Conference matches to Soldotna over the weekend.
The Stars won Friday’s match 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20 and Saturday’s match 25-13, 25-6, 25-16.
Kodiak coach Amy Willis was impressed with how her young team battled in Friday’s opener.
“It was simply wonderful to watch them play to their potential. They gave me a glimpse of what they can do when they work together,” Willis said. “We lost some of our unity on Saturday, and we cannot be successful without each other.”
Kodiak had a balanced offensive attack in Friday’s match. Imee Pagsolingan had seven kills, Emma Ellsworth six, Katrina Pruitt four and Angelica Paguio four.
Joie Macariola led the Bears with 16 digs, while Enrica Villanueva and Shalliah Capili each had 10 assists. Kristen Carstens added five solo blocks.
On Saturday, Emily Jancauskas paced Kodiak with three kills, while Ellsworth and Pruitt each had two. Jasmine Leiva recorded 10 digs.
Kodiak (0-3 overall, 0-2 NLC) hosts Wasilla Friday and Saturday in a pair of NLC matches at Kodiak High School.
Friday’s match begins at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday’s match starts at 1:30 p.m.
