Muscles will be put to the test Saturday at the Kodiak Athletic Club.

The seventh annual Ron Sears Memorial KMXT Bench Press Competition begins at noon. Weigh-ins start at 11 a.m.

Competitors can either press half their bodyweight or their full bodyweight as many times as possible.

Nick Long grabbed last year’s men’s full bodyweight title by pressing 195 pounds 19 times, while Heather Norton won the ladies title by pushing out four repetitions of 150 pounds.

The men’s half bodyweight title went to Robbie Bailey by pressing 85 pounds 102 times. Sonia Cortez took the girls title with 65 reps at 70 pounds.

Competitors are asked to gather pledges either per rep or a set amount with all proceeds going towards KMXT-FM. The entry fee is $20.

The competition is named after Sears, a KMXT board member and volunteer who passed a way two weeks ago from congenital heart disease.
