Kodiak used a trio of four-run innings to dispose of Soldotna, 13-7, in a Southcentral Conference baseball game Wednesday evening in Soldotna.
The Bears scored four runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings as Kodiak improved to 4-1 in the conference, 7-6 overall in a game that featured 24 walks and lasted nearly three hours.
Jakob Arnold labored through five 2/3 innings to earn the win. The junior allowed three runs on three hits. He struck out four, but walked six and hit another batter.
He walked the bases loaded in the first inning, but got out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning with 34 pitches. He finished with 114 pitches — 63 for strikes.
Arnold helped out his own cause by ripping a two-run single in the sixth that gave Kodiak a 9-2 lead. He also doubled in the fifth.
Aaron Polasky drove in three, while Tyler Jester and Austin Frick both drove in two. Jon LeVan added two singles and three runs.
LeVan scored the opening run on a Soldotna error in the first.

Jester drove in the first run in the third on a bases-loaded walk, which was followed by a two-run single from Polasky.

Kodiak put the game out of reach with four more in the sixth, which was highlighted by Arnold’s two-run single and a run-scoring double by Frick — one of two hits for the shortstop.
Kodiak added four more runs in the seventh on only one base hit.
Soldotna had plenty of chances to score as the Stars loaded the bases four times and stranded 14 runners on base.
