Two weeks after winning the 4A state girls title, Kodiak’s Jaymi Bethea finished 14th at the Concordia/Puma Classic in Portland, Ore., on Saturday.

The Kodiak senior covered the 5-kilometer course at Fernhill Park in 18 minutes, 41.3 seconds in the elite varsity race.

Service’s Jenette Northey, who finished second at the state meet, placed third in 18:17.6.

The Kodiak boys placed 17th with 395 points. Sophomore Cole Christiansen led the Bears with a 39th-place finish in 16:18.4.

Nathan Deer was 56th in 16:32.2, Jake Salus was 78th in 16:50.3, Caleb Nymeyer was 118th in 17:17.0 and Jordan Fogle was 129nd in 17:21.4.

Lathrop finished 14th at 377 points, while West Valley was 22nd with 461 points.

Service’s Silas Talbot finished third at 15:13.3, with teammate Jani Lane in 19th.

Port Lions’ Katie Strong placed 44th in the elite girls race in 19:38.2, while Kodiak’s Allie Smith was 87th in 20:50.7.
