A quartet of former Kodiak High School swimming stars returned to the water after the long holiday break.

Talon Lindquist, Nathan James, Anders Hocum and Marina Cummiskey all were in collegiate meets over the past two weekends.

Lindquist, a sophomore at the University of Hawaii, was the busiest out of the bunch, swimming in a pair of meets against Drury University and University of Minnesota at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex in Honolulu.

Fresh of competing at the Toyota U.S. Open in Atlanta Georgia, Lindquist picked up wins in the 400-yard individual medley (3 minutes, 57.94 seconds) and the 200 IM (1:52.07), while earning a third in the 200 butterfly (1:52.15) and a fourth in the 100 butterfly (51.21).

Lindquist is now off until Feb. 19 when the MPSF Conference Championships begin in Los Angeles.

James and Hocum — both freshmen at Southwest Oregon Community College — went up against Williamette University and College of Idaho in Salem, Oregon.

James, who has already qualified for the NJCAA National Championships March 4 in Florida, picked up a pair of wins, taking the 100 freestyle (51.07) and swimming the second leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:30.75). He was also fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:53.37).

Hocum was sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.47), seventh in the 100 freestyle (56.54) and ninth in the 200 freestyle (2:04.65).

Up next for James and Hocum is a meet against George Fox University on Jan. 18.

Cummiskey was victorious twice at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California.

She took first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.84) and was the third leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:40.56). She added a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle (54.74).

Cummiskey is at the UBC Invitational in Vancouver, British Columbia this weekend.

BASKETBALL

Carstens, a graduate of Nikiski High School, has appeared in 15 games while collecting 3 rebounds per game and shooting 42% from behind the arc.
