Kodiak’s Joyce Gregory and Cherelle Barber mounted an incredible rally to capture gold in bocce at the 2019 Special Olympics Alaska Fall Tournament over the weekend in Anchorage.

After dropping into the consolation bracket, the Kodiak duo rattled off three victories to reach the top of the podium.

“On the second day we were really focused in and led all three of those games,” Gregory wrote in a text message.

Gregory and Barber topped a team from the Central Peninsula 8-6 in the 40-minute championship match.

Kodiak’s Aharon Dolph and James Glenn earned a bronze medal in golf alternate shot team play.

The pair shot 123 over 18 holes at the Anchorage Golf Course.

The Fall Tournament featured athletes and partners from Valdez, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Homer, Anchorage and Central Peninsula.
