West Valley is inching closer to heading to the 4A girls basketball state tournament undefeated.

The Wolfpack clinched the Mid Alaska Conference regular season title and ran their record to 21-0 with a 44-7 victory over North Pole last Friday.

The victory kept West Valley on top in the latest Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches poll, released Wednesday.

East Anchorage is 18-1 on the season and is ranked second. Kodiak is the only team to beat the Thunderbirds this season, a 43-40 loss at the Joe Floyd Tournament.

Dimond (15-3) is ranked third, followed by Northern Lights Conference teams Colony (16-6) and Wasilla (18-5).

West Anchorage (13-2) remained the top team in the 4A boys rankings, while Cook Inlet Conference rivals Service (17-3) and East Anchorage (14-8) are ranked second and third.

Lathrop (16-8) and Dimond (13-6) round out the top 5.

The Barrow boys and girls remained the teams to beat in the 3A rankings.

The boys have a 22-3 record, while the girls are 10-6.
