On Thursday, Baranof Park will be filled with runners.

The annual Grand Slam Classic — a cross country event for all youngsters — starts at 4:15 p.m.

The event features 14 races for kindergarten to high school students.

High School runners compete on a 2-kilometer course, while everybody else does 1K.

The event — organized by the Kodiak High and Kodiak Middle cross country teams — is free and open to any students. Grand Slam is awarding prices to the top three in each race. Register at the track the day of the race.
