Palmer High School will have a pair of new basketball coaches next season.

According to the Frontiersman, the school has hired Chuck Martin to lead the boys and Elgin Hollins to coach the girls.

Martin replaced Brandon Blake, who retired earlier this year. Martin compiled a 283-89 record while spending a combined 14 seasons at Houston, Colony and Wasilla. He has also coached at NAIA The Master’s College in California and at NCAA Division I Liberty University in Virginia.

Martin led Houston to two 3A state titles.

Hollins replaced Lyle Busbey, the Palmer girls coach for the past two seasons.

Hollins is a former Colony assistant girls coach and head coach at Lumen Christi in Anchorage.

Palmer will also have a new volleyball coach next season as Jayme DeHart replaced longtime coach Steve Reynolds, according to the Frontiersman.

Reynolds retired after spending 15 years as coach of the Moose. DeHart is a former Palmer player and assistant coach under Reynolds.
