Kodiak’s Emerging Small Schools fell to Cook Inlet Academy, 80-45, in a Peninsula Conference boys basketball game Friday at CIA.

Wade Bartelson led ESS with 18 points, while Timmy Smithwick paced CIA with 35 points.

ESS trailed 16-11 after the first and 31-16 at halftime.

Second-ranked CIA outscored ESS 29-9 in the fourth to put the game away.

ESS dropped to 2-1 in the Peninsula Conference.

ESS plays Thursday at the Seldovia Tournament.
