Kodiak’s Makayla Heckerman and Ryan Walker will be competing for soapbox supremacy Saturday.

The two are racing in the 74th All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio.

Both drivers won their classes in Kodiak’s soap box derby and the right to represent the Island on a national stage.

Heckerman is in heat 534 of the super stock class, while Walker is in heat 426 of the stock class.

More than 500 champions from 35 states are competing.

Last year, Kodiak’s Elizabeth Medina won the International Soap Box Derby Division.
