The third-place team during the regular season made an incredible run through the postseason to claim the Junior Little League baseball title for the 2011 campaign.

Wells Fargo netted three runs in the first and made it hold up to defeat top-seeded Brechan 4-3 in the championship game Monday evening at Baranof Field.

Wells Fargo, the No. 3 team, took out Ocean Beauty, the No. 2 team, on Saturday to advance to Monday’s championship game. Brechan, the regular-season champs, received a bye into the title game.

Wells Fargo’s first three hitters scored in the first inning — two scoring on error.

Brechan buckled down after that and had a chance to win the game in the seventh with the tying run at third and the winning run on second. However, Wells Fargo pitcher Jon LeVan finished the game with a strikeout.

Sam Kirchenschlager tallied two of Wells Fargo’s five hits.

Alex Pace, Ryan Bezona and Sam Bennett each tallied two singles apiece for Brechan.

Aaron Polasky started on the mound for Brechan and struck out 10 in six innings.

Kirchenschlager pitched into the third inning for Wells Fargo, before LeVan took over. The lefty struck out six.
