To the Editor,
On Tuesday I am voting for Mead Treadwell and you should as well.
Of the three candidates in the Republican primary I believe Mead Treadwell is far and away the most qualified, knowledgeable and able candidate. I have known Mead for nearly 30 years and have been impressed with his wide range of knowledge and experience in Alaskan matters. Mead has worked extensively in private industry and understands what is involved in operating a business and paying employees in good economic times and bad. He has been involved with and understands the history and process of Alaska fisheries going back to the fight for the 200 mile limit, through North Pacific Management Council deliberations, and Alaska Board of Fish decisions. During the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill he worked effectively with small communities to deal with impacts on their towns. Later while at DEC he helped strengthen regulations on the Oil industry. He has worked extensively on Arctic research and preparation for future impacts and as Lt. Governor he has had the opportunity to travel throughout the state to see firsthand the problems in local communities .
While the other two Republican candidates give vague answers to questions of Alaskan importance and promises to educate themselves on issues, Mead can tell you the history of the subject, how decisions were made and what his involvement was in the process. From fish to oil to the arctic, no other candidate can offer the depth of knowledge, experience, ability and enthusiasm.
I urge you to vote for Mead Treadwell in the August 19 primary election
