Sitka captured its first state baseball title since 2007 Saturday night.

The Wolves defeated South Anchorage, 11-10, in the state championship game at Moller Park in Sitka.

The two teams combined for 18 hits and a grand slam. The lead changed five times before Sitka finally took the lead for good in the fifth inning.

South had runners on second and third when Sitka reliever Erickson Fish struck out the Wolverines’ final two batters to secure the title.

Sitka won state titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007. This was longtime Sitka coach Ed Conway’s final game.

Sitka beat Wasilla, 14-0, and South took down Colony, 4-0, in Friday’s semifinal round.

Soutcentral Conference champion Wasilla beat rival Colony, 6-2, in the third-place game, while Lathrop beat West Valley, 8-2, for fourth place.

Eagle River and Juneau-Douglas were eliminated on Friday.
