At the Kiwanis Club Kids Pink Salmon Derby on Saturday, 134 kids and their families lined the banks of the Buskin River, despite fog and persistent rain.
The kids were between ages 2 and 15 and were divided into four age groups.
Bundled up against the rain, the kids cast in hopes of catching the big winner.
An otter cruised around the river, and a C-130 landed nearby at one point, distracting attendees from the weather.
Kids were required to hook and reel in the fish themselves, and quite a few did. The fisherman who caught the most was Zeber Khan with three.
Wynn McKinnis, 12, caught a 5.8 pound fish and won the grand prize, an Xbox 360.
Ethan Hochmuth won the 2-6 age group.
Lakeisha Sanchez won the 7-9 age group.
Tyler Blanco won the 10-12 age group.
Ethan La Croix won the 13-15 age group.
Each of the age group winners won a bicycle.
