That might have been the moral of last weekend's Lions Club dinner theater, where the fish took a little longer than expected to prepare, giving the Kodiak High School Jazz Band, Kodiak High School Choir and Eighth Grade Girls Ensemble extra minutes to present the fruit of practice.
While the high school's culinary arts program and Family, Career and Community Leaders program worked behind the scenes, hundreds of Kodiakans enjoyed vocal and instrumental music.
When the meal was complete, diners were treated to dessert by the Fairwind Players, who presented "Mrs. Mannerly," a comedy that was the product of long weeks of practice under director Jared Griffin.
The production was the sixth for the Players, a group of actors, directors and technicians brought together in 2007 as a supplement to the Kodiak Arts Council and Kodiak Community Theater.
