Here are a few of the reasons why I support Louise Stutes to represent our community in Juneau.
1. I went to the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly meetings when the "Roll Cart" issue was being discussed. Ms. Stutes kept bringing up the issue of the bears and how the roll carts were not "bear proof". She expressed her concerns over the cost of the new garbage pick up plan and making the burden fair for all citizens utilizing the service. (Meetings are recorded on the borough website)
2. Ms. Stutes would bring a list of concerns that borough citizens had called or talked to her about to the meetings and shared those concerns one by one.
3. I attended one of the Kodiak Island Borough School District Strategic Planning Committee meetings where Ms. Austerman was a member. She announced that she would be speaking first because she had somewhere else to go. She spoke about the lack of information that was flowing from her child's teacher to her as a parent. This is admirable as a parent to advocate for your child. But, when it came to discussion concerning everyone's child, she excused herself saying that she had somewhere else to go.
We need someone who will stay in the room, ask the (popular and unpopular) questions until they get a resolution — someone who will bring all District 32 concerns to the floor of the Alaska House of Representatives. That person is Louise Stutes.
