The cancellation of the Jerry Palmer Duals at Bartlett High School has Kodiak’s wrestling team staying home this weekend.

The duals were supposed to take place today and Saturday. Instead, Kodiak will use the extra time to practice.

“The extra weekend of competition I don’t think will help us right now,” Kodiak coach Pat Costello said. “It wouldn’t hurt us, but I am fine for having this weekend off.”

Up next for Kodiak is the Northern Lights Conference Tournament on Jan. 27 and 28 at Kodiak High School.

Coming to the island are Wasilla, Palmer, Colony, Soldotna and Kenai. The tournament is a state qualifier for the NLC.

Currently, Wasilla, Kodiak and Colony are ranked in the top five in state.
