• Tustumena ferry leaves at 9:30 a.m. for Port Lions for the July 4th Anniversary Party of Port Lions. The ferry departs for home at 5:00 p.m., stopping in Ouzinkie. For more information, call the city of Port Lions at 907-454-2332 or the Native Village of Port Lions at 907-454-2234.

• The City of Kodiak Parks and Recreation July Fourth 10K Run and Walk begins 9:30 a.m. Friday in front of the Coast Guard base entrance. Registration for the free race ends 15 minutes before the 9 a.m. walkers start.

• The annual American Legion Parade, Kodiak’s main event, begins downtown at 11 a.m. Staging starts at Oscar’s Dock at 10:15 a.m.

• Island Hydraulics hot dog roast, 120 W. Rezanof, 11 a.m. till 3 p.m.

• Fourth of July Celebration in Chiniak, potluck at noon and parade at 2 p.m., starting at Road’s End, bring a dish and dress patriotically — red, white & blue.

• Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Annual Stan and Nita Nelson BBQ, Senior Center. The event, for seniors only and sponsored by the Endowment Fund, starts after the parade.

• American Legion cookout (for Legion families only) begins after the parade.

• Independence Day Picnic-Potluck by the Kodiak Assembly of God. Bring a side dish, dessert, or salad to share, and bring a friend. Meet at Fort Abercrombie Group Recreation Area at 2 p.m. For more info call 486-3894.
