• A citizen called the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for information about paralytic shellfish poisoning in local clams and mussels. Troopers investigated and found that the person had purchased about 5 pounds of mussels and clams at a garage sale. A man was cited for selling subsistence-taken shellfish and was summoned to court. There are no known cases of PSP this year on Kodiak Island.
• At 1:59 p.m., Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle accident at Mile 8 Chiniak Highway. A driver had leaned down to pick up an apple from the floorboards and crashed the vehicle. Ward was uninjured but the vehicle was totaled. Ward was issued a summons on a charge of negligent driving and was released on his own recognizance.
• At 9:41 p.m., a driver called 911 to report a possible drunk driver. Troopers investigated and arrested James Anthony Childers, 41, for assault in the third degree — domestic violence, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and driving with his license suspended.
