Bears aim for another NLC title
Kodiak’s wrestling team is not going to sneak up on opponents this season. Last season, Kodiak surprised everybody by winning its first Northern Lights Conference title in 20 years. With most of last year’s team returning, the Bears are posed to make another run for the conference crown. “They are on the lookout for us,” said Sean Costello, who shares co-head coach duties for Kodiak with his father Pat Costello. “...

Eighty booths selling everything from jam to picture frames will fill Kodiak High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the annual production of the American Association of University Women. If that isn’t enough, an overflow bazaar will op...

Perspective: Presidential election matters in El Salvador
I confess that last March, I paid much more attention to the mayoral election in Ahuachapán, El Salvador than I did to the US presidential election this Tuesday. In fact, my confession gets worse. I didn’t vote in this election, though absentee ballots are not that hard to figure out. I have a lot of excuses: I registered late and then dengue fever hit, and then I was so busy catching up that I didn’t have time to...

Kodiak looking to make a statement
Playing in the 4A state volleyball championships never crossed Carissa Cannon’s mind at the beginning of the season. “I was just thinking it was going to be one of those years where we are getting ready for the next year,” Kodiak’s junior outside hitter said. But, something happened. Something unexpected. With home-court advantage at last week’s Northern Lights Conference Championships, Kodiak upset No. 1 seed Pal...

American people just destroyed our country
To the Editor: The worst thing that could happen, Obama was reelected. The American people just destroyed our country, our freedom, the Supreme Court, gun control and registration and confiscation, treaties with the United Nations and atomic weapons. We are doomed to tyranny and a dictatorship in this country, and when the money is all gone, there will be riots, burning cars, civil disobedience, redistribution of ...
