Kings captured
Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Tyler Polum loaded a king salmon into a container held by Kate Kimmel July 3 at a fish trap on Monashka Creek. King salmon caught in the trap are used for breeding purposes in the hatchery project run by the Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association. After capture, the fish are kept in tanks until harvested for their eggs and milt.
