Alutiiq Word of the Week: Wolf
Kaganaq - Wolf Kaganat yaksigtut maaken. - The wolves are far from here. Wolves (Canis lupus) occur throughout mainland Alaska, from the rainforests of Southeast to Unimak Island in the Aleutians and as far north as the Arctic coast of the Beaufort Sea. This huge range, nearly 85 percent of Alaska, illustrates the animals’ great adaptability. Like people, wolves can exist in many different habitats. Although wolve...

Religion: St. Mary’s priest is man of many talents, interests

Frank Reitter, St. Mary’s Catholic parish priest. “God is one who carries us; He’s the one who leads us home; He’s the one who bears our burdens,” Reitter explains. Reitter made this theological statement in a short story about a monsignor who hires a man to paint a mural that will depict the face of God. When the monsignor sees a pai...

This morning, through one of those interactions, I learned about Google Trends, a tool on the Google Browser that allows one to lo...

The lobsters the VFW served weren’t local, of course. But the vets had them flown in from Main...
