City partnership keeps Kodiak museum healthy

The grand reopening of the Kodiak History Museum, formerly the Baranof Museum, on May 4 was an impressive community achievement. Our residents participated in many informative outreach meetings during more than a decade of planning. The results of these meetings, combined with the vision of the Kodiak Historical Society’s Board of Directors, the museum staff and many local organizations are apparent. Our museum is a jewel.

The contributions of the City of Kodiak, the city mayor, the city council and the staff might tend to be overlooked in the celebration. Below is part of a congratulatory note that City of Kodiak Mayor Pat Branson sent to the Kodiak Historical Society on the occasion of the reopening, which expresses the relationship well:
