To the Editor:

I would like to express a very great thank you to the Kodiak and the Bayside ambulance, the first responders, paramedics, the EMTs, the first two who showed up fast with climbing ropes repelling down the bluff with emergency medical gear to help stabilize a very seriously hurt woman. She was screaming with bad compound fractures with a rising tide coming in. All the emergency people worked together as a team, a very well oiled machine. They did not miss a beat or waste a second. Every one of them worked together to make this rescue happen.

Also thank you to the emergency room staff and to the lifeflight pilots who flew in terrible weather to get her to the Anchorage hospital.

P.S. Lesson learned — don’t leave the gate open, don’t text message and smoke cigarettes on a slippery bluff with a long drop to the rocks.
