To the editor,

To the people of Kodiak. We’d like to give thanks to all of the following for your generous hospitality and support during our extended vacation July 24-Aug. 7 (due to ferry strike):  Camilla and Amanda (ferry employees) who made us welcome on our daily visit to their office asking “when are we leaving?”; the strike workers who were always friendly; Camilla, who posted our painting project on Facebook; Iris Samuels, Kodiak Daily Mirror, who interviewed us and wrote the article picked up by the Associated Press;  to those at the Senior Center and St. Paul’s Church who invited us for lunch; James (Short Haul) for his harbor tour; Abby for dinner at the Olds River Inn; and all the people who stopped by the church with water, raspberries, good wishes and words of encouragement; the camp hosts and staff at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Park; the pool and library staff for their helpfulness; Fr. John, (St. Herman’s Seminary) for his tour of the seminary; Fr. Innocent (Holy Resurrection Cathedral) for taking us to Spruce Island upon our arrival in Kodiak and allowing us to paint their fence.

We will always remember your kindness.
