State strong-arming Otmeloi plan

Posted: Wednesday, January 18, 2017 9:00 am

This past week saw a further step in the Otmeloi paving project, a public meeting hosted by the borough manager’s office to endorse a tentative, new design by the state of Alaska. The meeting, like all meetings, had its plusses and minuses.

On the plus side, the meeting was well attended with all of the borough assembly (except one), the manager and staff, KEA board members, Service District No. 1 leadership, and interested citizens. No state project engineers were there, as the intent of the meeting was to develop a local consensus as to what this project should include and how it should move forward.
