KODIAK — At 17, Kahryn Buchanan is the youngest graduate at the University of Alaska Anchorage Kodiak College. In her commencement speech, she shared her inspiring journey that started at age 7 by feigning headaches to get out of class so she could read books. At 13, she asked to take college placement tests and scored high enough to take college classes.

Now this inspiring young woman is packing her bags for Fairbanks and will be moving this fall to continue her studies in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
