Residents in parts of Kodiak may notice discolored water today when city crews start work on a water flushing system on Rezanof Drive.

The city’s public works and fire department will start work on the system at 1 p.m. today in the 3400 block of Rezenof. Areas possibly affected by the flushing include Woody Way, Sitkinak Drive and Woodland Acres through Sharatin Road.

All water used in the flushing system and all water in the mains is treated, disinfected water that meets all state and federal drinking water requirements. If you experience discolored water, turn on the cold water tap in your bathtub or another tap without an aerator and let the water run until it clears. Residents are advised to avoid using washing machines until clear tap water returns.

For more information or questions, residents can contact the city’s public works department at 486-8060.
