Port William lodge owners hit with nearly $8M oil clean-up bill

KODIAK — The two owners and a former operator of a hunting lodge in Port William on Shuyak Island have been ordered to pay nearly $8 million to the federal government to reimburse the costs of cleaning up an oil spill that took place in February, 2018. 

According to Mark Krall, the former operator who was also a tenant of the property, he along with the owners, Bruce and Yvonne Cooper, are unable to pay the money. As such, the case is now being handled by the Department of Justice and remains ongoing.
